The National Park Plitvice Lakes is located in the region of Lika in Croatia. The territory is covered by forests, woods, streams, lakes and waterfalls. Plitvice was proclaimed as the first Croatian national park in 1949 and in 1979 became a part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage.

The National Park Plitvice includes 16 lakes connected by waterfalls. Here are also several caves, of which only a small part are accessible. The Plitvice forests are inhabited by 157 species of birds, 50 species of mammals, 20 kinds of bats, 321 species of butterflies and other wildlife, including the brown bear, wild boar, wolf, lynx and deer. Plitvice lakes are formed by two rivers: the White River and the Black River, which flow into the river Korana. Inside the park Plitvice you can move on foot, by bicycle, by boat or by train. You can book accommodation in hotels, pansions, apartments and private rooms. The Plitvice Lakes are divided into Upper Lakes (Gornja Jezera) and Lower Lakes (Donja Jezera).
