The inhabitants are mainly involved in agriculture and fishing. In Vela Luka is also the Greben shipyard. In the center you can visit a valuable collection of archaeological finds from the Neolithic cave Vela Spilja. In Vela Luka you should visit the parish church of St. Joseph with 14 small reliefs of the sculptor Anka Prižmić, and the Chapel of St. Vincent. Vela Luka is known for its beautiful pebble beaches but also for the wooded islet Osjak.
