National Park Northern Velebit

The Northern Velebit was proclaimed National Park in 1999, and is the youngest national park in Croatia. The Northern Velebit is famous for its karst features, for its rich flora and fauna and its natural beauty.

Due to the fact that the Northern Velebit is not easily accessible, the national park is not very crowded. The area of the national park of Northern Velebit is 109 km2 with 2 nature reserves and precisely Rožanski kukovi and Hajdučki kuovi with more than 150 pits. The most famous pit is Lukina jama and it is also one of the most deeper in the world. The Premužić path offers beautiful views over the Adriatic sea and islands. The bay Zavratnica is the symbol of the natural beauty of the Velebit.
