The Medvednica Nature Park is located in the northern part of Zagreb. The highest peak of the Medvednica is Sljeme with 1032 m. Zagreb is one of the few european capitals at whose feet lies a natural park.
The Nature Park Medvednica is the perfect recreational center of all the inhabitants of Zagreb. On the Medvednica there are several caves, including one of the most greats of Croatia, the Veternica. The Medvednica is covered with snow for at least 100 days a year. Here are also many mountain huts and inns. In Medvednica is held every year the “Snow Queen” which is a ski race in honor of skier Janica Kostelić, one of the best in the world.
