The natural park of Zumberak is located in the area of Zumberacko gorje and it was proclaimed a nature park in 1999. Zumberak is about 30 km from Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. Today the area of the nature park includes Zumberacko gorje and Samobor Mountains.
Zumberak is a karst area consists of caves, chasms, rivers, forests of beech and chestnut. Here are also several water sources. The flora and fauna of the area of Zumberak are rich and here we find examples of bears, wolves, birds such as hawks (in Croatian Jastreb) from which takes its name the village of Jastrebarsko. Zumperak is the ideal place for recreation especially for mountaineering, hiking, hunting and fishing.
